This tour takes you to three fascinating destinations south of Cusco: Tipón, Pikillacta, and Andahuaylillas. In Tipón, you’ll visit an impressive Inca complex famous for its water channels and agricultural terraces. In Pikillacta, you’ll explore an ancient pre-Inca city of the Wari culture, with wide streets and stone enclosures. And in Andahuaylillas, you’ll visit the famous Baroque church known as the “Sistine Chapel of America.” It’s a perfect half-day route that combines history, architecture, and Andean landscapes.
<p>It is an impressive Inca archaeological complex located 27 km southeast of Cusco, near Oropesa. It stands out for its buildings, agricultural terraces, and a still-intact irrigation system, demonstrating the advanced hydraulic engineering of the Incas. In addition, the Inca Trail crosses the top of the complex, offering panoramic views and a unique historical experience.</p>
<p>It is an ancient settlement of the Wari people, located near Cusco and inhabited between 550 and 1100 AD. This ceremonial site reflects the influence of the central Wari city and nearby communities. Although it was never fully completed, its structures and streets offer a fascinating journey into the pre-Inca past and provide insight into the history of one of the most important cultures of the Andes.</p>
<p>It is famous for its Baroque church dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” for its stunning frescoes. This picturesque town is part of the Andean Baroque Route, along with Cusco, Huaro, and Urcos, offering visitors a unique experience of colonial art and architecture in the Andes.</p>
